We have choosen the three charities below, as they have all helped many people including ourselves fight the battle of Leaukemia

We try and give something back to the charities by organising events and recruiting new donors for the Bone Marrow Register.

The Willow Foundation is a national charity that provides quality of life and quality of time for seriously ill young adults (aged 16-40) through the provision of special days.

The Foundation defines seriously ill as any condition that is life threatening. To date special days have been organised for young adults living with, amongst others: cancer, motor neurone disease, cystic fibrosis, organ failure and the later stages of multiple sclerosis

The aim of any special day is to offer ?time out? from treatment and allow seriously ill young adults to spend quality time with friends and/or family whilst pursuing an activity they all enjoy.  Each special day is entirely of the applicant?s choosing and is organised in meticulous detail. The Foundation funds every aspect of the chosen special day.

For some, a special day is their last chance to fulfil a dream.  For others it is the opportunity to return some normality back into their lives.  But for all, a special day creates precious memories for the future.  To date the charity has organised and funded more than 2,800 special days. It is the Foundation?s aim to offer a special day to every seriously ill young adult (aged 16-40) in the UK.

'The Anthony Nolan Trust takes back lives from leukaemia by managing and recruiting new donors to the UK's most successful bone marrow register. The Trust also undertakes vital research leading to improvements in the effectiveness and safety of bone marrow transplants. As an independent charity, The Anthony Nolan Trust continually rely on financial support to help fund the £17 million needed each year to continue their life saving work'.

Since the charity began we have helped give more than 5,800 children and adults a new chance of life and here are some of the highlights of the work carried out in 2006:
  • we provided 530 patients with a bone marrow transplant donor
  • we recruited over 20,000 potential new donors to our bone marrow register
  • Our world-renowned scientists carried out more pioneering research to improve the effectivness of bone marrow transplants for patients with leukaemia.

Leukaemia Research is the only charity in the UK dedicated exclusively to researching blood cancers and disorders including leukaemia, Hodgkin's and other lymphomas, and myeloma.

110,000 people, children and adults alike, are living with these cancers today. We are committed to giving every one of them the best chance of survival.

Our scientists and doctors work in over fifty top research centres across the UK. They are seeking to improve diagnosis of blood disorders and treatments for patients; they are also trying to understand why and how cells become cancerous to cure cancers.
